Internet speed test

Measure your connection’s download speed, upload speed, latency and jitter. Your browser connects directly to a test node. No installation needed.

Your device · real transfers

Cloudflare Automatically routed node

Ready. Test traffic starts only when you press Start.

Light mode: up to 16 MB downloaded and 8 MB uploaded, plus protocol overhead. Stop at any time.

What do these numbers mean?

Download

How quickly your device receives data, affecting downloads and video loading. Both Mbps and MB/s are shown; 8 Mbps is about 1 MB/s.

Upload

How quickly your device sends data, affecting photo backups, file uploads and outgoing video quality.

HTTPS latency

Round-trip response time for small HTTPS requests. Lower usually feels more responsive. This is not ICMP ping or latency to a game server.

Jitter

The change between consecutive latency samples. Lower values mean more consistent response times during this test.

How this test works+

Your browser connects directly to Cloudflare’s public download and upload endpoints. After warming the connection, six HTTPS latency samples provide the median latency and the mean absolute difference between consecutive samples for jitter. Transfer sizes adapt during the test. Throughput is completed test bytes divided by total request time, including round-trip overhead. The chart shows completed transfer samples.

This estimates single-connection application throughput from this device to a Cloudflare node. Wi-Fi, VPNs, browsers, routing and data limits affect the result. Light mode may underestimate fast connections. Results do not establish your ISP’s promised capacity or the speed of every website.

Data usage is estimated from requested payloads; stopping early may transfer less. Protocol overhead is excluded. A run lasts at most about 60 seconds and stops when the page is hidden. Results remain on this page only and clear on refresh.

Good to know

How can I get a more representative result?+

Pause other downloads, backups and video streams, and keep this page in the foreground. Compare Wi-Fi with a wired connection and repeat at different times. A VPN also affects the measured route.

Why does this differ from other speed tests?+

Server location, connection count, test duration, calculation methods and ISP routing all affect results. This test uses one connection with a data cap. Standard mode allows more sampling but does not guarantee the line’s peak capacity.

Can I use mobile data? Does testing start automatically?+

You can use mobile data, but the test uses your allowance. Light mode requests up to about 24 MB of test data, and Standard up to about 144 MB, plus protocol overhead. Testing starts only when you press Start and can be stopped at any time.
